Police car damaged in Morpeth after colliding with railings

Drivers and pedestrians going up or down the Curly Kews bank in Morpeth this afternoon would have come across this shocking scene after a police car collided with railings.

The vehicle was badly damaged. Traffic management was required, but the road was not closed.

A Northumbria Police spokeswoman said: “Police received a report of a one-vehicle collision involving a police car at Curly Kews in Morpeth at 1.58pm.

“The vehicle has extensive damage after colliding with railings, but there are no reports of any injuries.

“Inquiries are taking place to establish how the collision occurred.”
