The road could be closed for a total of four weeks, with the works starting last week. They are in phases, with upgrades to High Stanners then Challoners Gardens.

As well as the upgrades, the road will benefit from a full resurface.

Coun Bawn said: "High Stanners residents have faced a lot of disruption recently - from flood alleviation works to the recent path upgrade - and this will prolong that disruption, but it will be worth it in the long run.

“I’ll be keeping an eye on the works as they take place and if parts of the closure can be ended earlier, then I’ll try and make sure that happens.”
