MP Guy Opperman has donated the first proceeds of his book to the NHS hospital which saved his life from a brain tumour.
The Hexham Member collapsed in the Central Lobby of the House of Commons on April 26, 2011, due to an undiagnosed menignoma. He was treated at the National Hospital for Neurosurgery and Neurology at Queen’s Square the following month.
Now the MP has given a £650 cheque to consultant Neil Kitchen from his first royalty cheque for his book Doing Time about prison reform. All proceeds from the book will be going to the National Brain Appeal.
