Popular musical will take you back to the days of high school
Pupils from a Morpeth school will be staging a show loved by youngsters the world over.
Students from King Edward VI High School will be staging an adaptation of the Disney Channel’s High School Musical film from Thursday, March 23 to Saturday, March 25.
The well-loved production has been described as a “modern twist on Grease with extra cheese and lots of comedy”.
There are 50 members of cast from across all year groups, and they say the most challenging aspect of the production has been getting used to some of the “cringe-worthy” lines.
Directed by Caroline Stephen and Fleur Anderson, the story takes us to an American High School, where a basketball guy Troy, played by Will Capps, meets new girl and science boffin Gabriella, played by Maddy Yates. The two work hard to realise their dreams and lose their labels. The morale of the story — never stick to what you know, always reach for something new.
With popular upbeat numbers, there is something for everyone.
It takes places in the lower school hall at 7.30pm each night. Tickets are £9 adults, £7 students, from the school’s main reception.
