A series of routes in Alnwick, Berwick, Morpeth, Rothbury and Otterburn, as well as others in the west of the county, will be gritted from 4pm today. From 5am tomorrow, the same routes will be patrolled and spot treated as required.

The forecast is for variable cloud amounts this afternoon with a few sunny spells. Occasional wintry showers are possible too. This evening, into tonight, it will be mostly dry with some clear spells and variable cloud; just an isolated light wintry shower possible but with nothing of significance expected. There is the outside chance of a very local light cover of snow.
