Pupils given wedding task for school's Enterprise Day
Creating an ideal venue for people looking to get married, but not in a church, was the challenge given to students at Newminster Middle School and Technology College in Morpeth on its Enterprise Day.
It was delivered by an expert team of 26 business ambassadors from the HMRC, DWP, Barclays and Northumberland County Council, among other organisations, as well as Carole Richards from Northumberland Education Business Partnership, who organised the activity.
Pupils from different year groups worked together in teams to develop ideas for a hotel that would offer a wedding package and they had the opportunity to pitch their ideas to the ambassadors in the afternoon session after being given a masterclass in presentation and communication skills.
Assistant headteacher Sumeena Razzaqi said: “With events like this we hope to inspire and motivate youngsters for the world of work and also develop a raised awareness of employability and financial skills.”
