Residents come together to clear up their community

There was a real team effort at a recent litter pick in Pegswood.

A group of litter pickers get ready to collect items of rubbish in parts of Pegswood.

It was organised by Coun Mark Rochester, who leads environmental matters for Pegswood Parish Council.

Volunteers from the Pegswood Community Action group, Pegswood with Bothal WI – which also served refreshments – and Pegswood Rainbows and Cubs joined members of the council in collecting items of rubbish on the grassed area by Cookswell Estate, the paths and grassed areas by Cookswell Garage and at the roadside out of the village towards Whorral Bank.

A total of ten bin bags were filled and taken away.

The next litter pick will take place on Saturday, June 11, from 10am. It will will focus on the main street between the new and old Co-Op store.
