A COMMUNITY street party has been called for residents to celebrate their victory over unpopular housing plans.
Residents of The Kylins were united in their opposition to moves by Persimmon Homes to change the layout, parking facilities and house types of a previously accepted development on their doorstep.
Earlier this month councillors booted out the proposals in majority votes, saying the amendments would see a considerable change from the planning brief that had been drawn up with residents’ involvement when the housing scheme was first approved.
Now householders are preparing for a get-together next month to enable them to meet up with neighbours in happier times.
Resident Dorothy Smith said: “We have all worked hard to get out views across so the party is just to say thank you to everybody.
“It will keep the issue in people’s minds. I think we have done really well to succeed so far and it is only because we have stuck together and worked as a community.”
