A COMMUNITY transport service in Ponteland will continue operating after its funding was extended.
Charity Adapt (North East) has run a Dial-A-Ride programme, which goes door-to-door, in the area for 12 months and it will now carry on to at least the end of the year.
The weekly service allows people with poor access to public and motorised transport the opportunity to use it for journeys such as shopping trips, attending doctors and dentist appointments and visiting friends.
Northumberland county councillor for Ponteland West, Veronica Jones, said: “This is some good news for Ponteland and I know Adapt is very pleased with the numbers using the service.
“It has also started to be used to take residents on trips out, so long may it continue.”
