A group of horse riders did not let the rain spoil their Christmas-themed journey last Saturday afternoon.

The ride for liveries and staff at The Pegasus Centre in Tranwell went from the equestrian facility to St Mary’s Inn near Stannington.

Two officers from Northumbria Police accepted an invitation to escort the riders, some of whom were wearing fancy dress.

When the group of more than a dozen reached the gastro-pub, they enjoyed some well-earned mince pies and a glass of mulled wine.
