Crowds in the Market Place enjoyed the traditional ringing in the New Year by the Morpeth Clock Tower Bellringers.
After ringing the tenor 12 times to proclaim the arrival of 2016, the group rang a Grandsire triples method. They then shared a bottle of fizz that was brought along by town council representatives Alison Byard, Morpeth Mayor, Andrew Tebbutt and Joan Tebbutt.
Tower Captain, Rev Simon White, said: “It was a fun evening. It’s important to keep the tradition going.”
Those interested in learning to ring can speak to members of the group at the Clock Tower on a Wednesday night, as they meet there from 7.30pm.
