Northumberland Archives’ application to be awarded the UK quality standard has been successful.

Achieving Archive Service Accreditation demonstrates that the service has met clearly defined national criteria relating to management and resourcing, the care of its unique collections and what it offers to its entire range of users.

Managed by Northumberland County Council, Northumberland Archives is responsible for collecting records relating to the history of the county, its communities and people in record offices in Woodhorn and Berwick-upon-Tweed.

Coun Cath Homer, cabinet member for culture, arts and leisure, said: “This is fantastic news for Northumberland Archives.

“Our archive team have demonstrated that they have achieved UK national standards relating to management and resourcing, the care of unique collections and the service offer to their range of users.”
