SERVICEMEN: Seeking out photographs

editorial image

I am acting on behalf of the authorities at the United Nations Memorial Cemetery Busan, South Korea, where over 800 British servicemen are buried.

The authorities wish to obtain photographs of the servicemen interred there and also of those who died, but have no known grave (over 200).

Copies will be placed in the records and displayed on the walls of the Cemetery Hall of Remembrance.

The following names are just some of the young men from the North East who gave their lives in Korea: Pte Gerald Clarke, L/Cpl Kenneth Newby, Rfn Thomas Ostle, Sgt Ralph Liddle, Pte Robert Smith, Drv Nicholas Robson, Fus Thomas H McNally, Pte Leslie Jackson, W/O2 James Morris, Lt Brian Swinbanks, Pte Leonard R Turnbull, Gnr Ralph J Barwick, and Sgt Alfred Wilson.

Any family or friend who lost a loved one in the Korean War 1950-53 can send the photograph to me.

If more details are required you can phone me on 0161 368 5622, or 07467 037742, or email bhough116@gmail.com

May I thank you for any help that you can give on this matter.
