MORPETH FOOTPATHS SOCIETY
On Mothering Sunday Morpeth Footpaths Society enjoyed a six-mile circular walk led by David Barker, from St Bartholomew’s Church, Kirkwhelpington.
Mr Barker pointed out sites of medieval and Romano British settlements and the remains of a disused lead mine.
The day was mild and there were lots of snow drops and crocus in flower.
The next walk, from Chatton to Budle Bay, is on April 12.
It is ten miles and will take five hours for a full walk, but there is the option to leave after five miles and take a coach to the end.
Booking is essential and there is a £5 charge for the coach.
The coach leaves from Morpeth Leisure Centre at 9.30am.
