Colleagues at Leeds Building Society’s branch in Bridge Street, Morpeth, have raised £950 so far during 2016 for Daft as a Brush, its charity of the year.

A range of activities have been organised to bring in cash. They include coffee mornings, sponsored slims, cake sales and tombolas.

The most recent event in aid of the charity that provides free transport to and from hospital for people with cancer in Northumberland and other parts of the North East was a prize bingo at St Christophers House in Kirkhill. It also included a raffle and £285 was raised.

Fund-raising plans for the rest of 2016 include afternoon tea at the branch and a sponsored walk in the Lake District.
