SPORTY youngsters have revived the traditional sports day to raise cash for good causes.
Members of Northumberland’s Children In Care Council (Voices Making Choices) and the Sports Development Team’s Young People’s Steering Group brought out their competitive side to do battle in a range of sports, from the three-legged race to egg and spoon.
The event was held at Stannington Village Hall in aid of Comic Relief.
County Sports Development Officer Emma Marshall said: “The members of these groups are already fantastic at engaging in positive activities and projects with our services. They are now focusing on supporting other young people by raising money for Red Nose Day.
“They can feel very proud of their efforts, as well as having loads of fun.”
A total of £200 was raised.
Voices Making Choices, which is made up of people in children’s homes, foster care and care leavers, has a long-running campaign to improve the image of looked-after young people.
