The annual Ellington Horticultural Society Show was a success, although entries were down due to this summer’s weather.

Chairman John Boaden said: “It went very well. We were slightly down in various categories, but I think it was down to the strange summer we have had. Things like leeks and onions had done well, but for the long-rooted vegetables, like carrots and parsnips, it was more of a problem.

“The home produce was slightly down too.

“But overall it was a good show, well-attended, with a lot of people coming to see it. The raffle was good too.

“I would like to thank all the members that showed and all of the committee members who worked very hard.”
