There was further European Youth Parliament (EYP) competition success for Ponteland High School at the 2016 North East Regional Forum.

After a day of outstanding debates and emotive speeches, the Pont High team was selected by the jury to represent the region at the National Session, which will take place this summer.

Alex Iley, Amy Brook, Faye Walker, Katie Errington,
Lauren Hodgson, Michael Bronswyk, Oliver Jennings, Sarah Hamilton and
Matthew Lee will be up
against the school teams
selected at all the other
regional forums across the UK.

Topics at the North East forum ranged from the threat of terrorism to the refugee crisis and Balkan expansion. The students demonstrated their excellent skills in debating and public speaking, as well as their knowledge of key issues in British and European politics.

Ponteland High has a proud tradition of both competing and succeeding in this debating arena, with several of its current Year 13 students now alumni of the EYP, including Elliott Barker, Molly Hall and Owen Stratford.
