There’s snow time to waste

PONTELAND farmers who want to help clear snow from minor roads are being urged to contact the county council as soon as possible.

Mayor Robin Ramsay said that those who wish to volunteer need to do so quickly because the unitary authority is currently putting together service agreements for such arrangements.

“Farmers’ vehicles were extremely helpful last November and December as they cleared a number of smaller roads,” he added.

“To make them even more effective, it would be great if those who volunteer to help out can attach a gritter to the back of their vehicle.”
