Morpeth Stobhillgate Townswomen’s Guild
THE October meeting has been for many years our Harvest Supper and Bring and Buy.
A supper of pie and peas, pastries, tray bakes, along with a cup of tea, is always enjoyed. After the refreshments, we have a sale of items brought in by members. The most popular are homemade cakes, pastries and dropped scones. It is also an opportunity to buy Christmas stocking fillers. Members are always generous and nearly £50 was raised, which means we can pay the rent for another few months.
Many thanks to all, especially Mrs Pat Lumley our Treasurer, in charge of pies and peas, Mrs Emily Landells, our oldest member, in charge of the gravy, and our second oldest member Dorothy Nixon, who helped with washing up. It is an enjoyable afternoon as we have time to chat, something not always possible when we have speakers.
Our next meeting is on Thursday, November 14, in St Robert’s Church Hall, at 2pm.
