The Morpeth and Wansbeck Conservatives Association has announced the candidates that have been selected to fight the seats in the Morpeth area for the party at Northumberland County Council election time in May next year.

Sitting councillor David Bawn has been re-selected for the Morpeth North division and local shop owner John Beynon has been re-selected to stand for Morpeth Stobhill.

They are joined by local party chairman, businessman Richard Wearmouth, and former county and borough councillor David Towns, who will contest the Morpeth Kirkhill and Pegswood wards respectively.

Coun Bawn said: “I couldn’t be happier with the dedicated team who have put themselves forward for Morpeth.

“In times when all parties find it hard to find people willing to step up to the plate, I am proud that we have found such strong and experienced candidates.”
