Biker airlifted to hospital

A MOTORCYCLIST was airlifted to hospital after a collision with a truck.

The accident happened on the B6432 at Ewesley, near Scots Gap, at about 11.35am on Saturday, when a black Nissan Navara pick-up and a yellow Yamaha motorbike collided.

The 35-year-old motorcyclist was taken to the Royal Victoria Infirmary in Newcastle, where his condition was described as stable.

Police are investigating the incident and are appealing for any witnesses to contact them, particularly a group of bikers who were riding with the injured man.

Sgt Mick Soulsby said: “An investigation is under way into the full circumstances of this crash and we would urge anyone who witnessed it to get in touch.

“The injured man was travelling with a group of other motorcyclists and we would particularly like to hear from them in case they have information that could help us to establish exactly what happened.”
