Man dies in Kirkharle crash

A MAN has died in a road accident at Kirkharle.

The crash happened at about 7.25am on Tuesday when two vehicles collided on the A696 at Kirkharle crossroads.

Police, paramedics and fire crews from Ponteland were called to the scene.

The driver of a Ford Ka, 51-year-old Michael Fowler, of Ridsdale, Northumberland, died as a result of his injuries.

The second vehicle involved in the accident was a Vauxhall Corsa Combo van and its driver, a 28-year-old man, suffered serious injuries. He remains in hospital in a critical but stable condition.
