A NORTH East airport is flying high in the punctuality tables.
New figures from the UK Civil Aviation Authority have shown that Newcastle International Airport, near Ponteland, is out-performing the national average.
Between April and June, 84 per cent of scheduled flights were on time – a one per cent increase on the same period last year – while the average at 10 UK airports monitored was 78 per cent.
The average delay at Newcastle was 10 minutes, compared to 12 minutes nationally.
Newcastle International Airport Planning and Corporate Affairs Director Graeme Mason said: “We are proud of our punctuality record and continually work to offer a first-rate service for those flying to and from our airport. It goes to show what successes can be achieved when staff working for the airport, airlines and handling agents all pull together.”
