Two elderly people who died in Northumberland road accident named

Two pensioners who died in a road accident in Northumberland have been named by police.

Ninety-three-year-old Katherine Scott, from Morpeth, and 86-year-old Charles Henry Chester, of Bedlington, died in an accident on the A192 near Hartford Bridge on Wednesday.

The accident happened just after noon when Mr Chester’s blue Nissan Micra and a silver Vauxhall Astra collided.

Ms Scott was a passenger in the Astra. The driver remains in hospital and her condition is not believed to be life threatening.

Enquiries are ongoing into the collision and anyone with any information is asked to contact police on 101, quoting reference 399 08/04/15.
