AN Ulgham woman was surrounded by family as she reached a landmark age.
Centenarian Jenny Finlay grew up in Newcastle and lived in the city with husband Ken before they moved to Ulgham in the 1970s to be near their daughter, Barbara Lough.
After breaking her hip a month ago, Mrs Finlay, now a widow, spent two weeks in Wansbeck General Hospital and was in the Whalton Unit, Morpeth Cottage Hospital, when she turned 100 last week. A small party was still held.
She went home yesterday and will once again celebrate her 100th birthday with family, also including two grandchildren and five great grandchildren. Mrs Lough said her mother received excellent care.
