Unsung heroes get their just rewards

UNSUNG heroes will be rewarded for their efforts in a special ceremony next week.

The winners of the Pride of Northumberland 2011 awards will be honoured at the Alnwick Garden on Thursday, September 15.

Young and old, individuals and groups will receive recognition for hard work, dedication, bravery and courage.

Organised by Northeast Press, publishers of the Morpeth Herald and sister papers the Northumberland Gazette and News Post Leader, as well as Tweeddale Press’s Berwick Advertiser, the awards have been a huge success.

Local businesses have sponsored the awards to make the event possible and see the amazing people that live and work in the county.

Zodiac Training is the largest private provider of apprenticeship training in the North East and is sponsor of the Student/Learner of the Year Category.

Managing Director Jon Smith lives in Northumberland and splits his time between Zodiac’s Wansbeck and Gateshead offices.

He said: “We are delighted to be involved in the Pride of Northumberland Awards and in particular to be sponsoring the Student/Learner of the Year category. Through our work we see first-hand the benefits of training and qualifications and the positive impact they have on individuals, businesses and the economy of the North East.

“In my role I hear about the fantastic achievements of the people of Northumberland every day. There is some incredible talent out there and through these awards we are very much looking forward to an event which showcases the success of the area and its people.”
