VIDEO: Centenarian Jessie tells how fate stepped in to reunite her with the love she thought she had lost for ever.

As Jessie Dowson celebrates her 100th birthday she recounts the wonderful love story she shared with her husband Gordon after they met at an Amble dance, but a misunderstanding meant that she thought her romance was doomed until a chance meeting gave her back the love of her life.

Today was a very special occasion for Jessie Dowson as she celebrated her 100th birthday at East Riding Care Home in Morpeth where she has been a resident for the past three years.

Jessie is also well known in Longhorsley where she lived for 27 years.

Her memory is as sharp as ever and in this heart-warming video we hear how she met the love of her life Gordon at a Saturday night hop in Amble, but after being impressed with their first encounter a misunderstanding meant that romance between the two of them appeared to be over.

Thankfully fate stepped in and reunited them.
