A beautiful brass sundial has been presented to Wallington today as an acknowledgement of the 30 years that this estate has opened for the National Gardens Scheme (NGS).
As well as raising money for charities, the NGS generously provides funding for trainee gardeners at National Trust sites, including Wallington.
John Ellis, Wallington’s head gardener, received the sundial from Maureen Kesteven, NGS county organiser for Northumberland and Tyne and Wear. It will tell the hours in the tranquil setting of the walled garden.
Both Maureen and John speak about the presentation in the video by Jane Coltman.
