Volunteers get just rewards

MORE than 100 volunteers in Northumberland have been recognised for their dedication.

Volunteering Northumberland invited the unpaid workers to a celebration event at the Holiday Inn, Seaton Burn, to treat them to a social evening and hand out much-deserved awards.

The volunteers enjoyed a drinks reception and entertainment from table-top magician Glenn Ward and guitarist and vocalist Eddie Miller before the awards presentation.

The Macmillan Bereavement Visiting Service was named Volunteer Group of the Year, while Alan Keilty, who is a long-serving volunteer at Newbiggin Maritime Centre, received the individual award.
