All of their help over the last 30 years has been invaluable and without them the hospice wouldn’t be the place it is now.

Across the UK, more than 125,000 volunteers generously give their free time to support hospice care in different ways, including over 1,300 volunteers at St Oswald’s.

By sharing their skills, companionship and most of all, their compassion, volunteers bring something very special to the experience of hospice care for patients, children and their families.

Whether providing complementary therapies, serving refreshments, supporting someone to cope with the loss of a loved one, or working in one of our 27 shops, hospice volunteers provide a friendly face and comfort to patients, families, supporters and visitors.

Every day I experience first-hand the generosity of St Oswald’s volunteers and the difference they make. Hospice volunteers offer the best of human kindness in action and we are immensely grateful for their support.
