Businesses and shops in Morpeth are showing their support for the town’s football team as they prepare to play at Wembley on Sunday.
Workers have put together window displays to bring a yellow-and-black colour to the main shopping streets and many establishments have put up the official posters.
And Morpeth Town Team (MTT) has been co-ordinating various activities to celebrate the FA Vase final achievement, including stalls in the Market Place so people could buy club souvenirs and merchandise and seats on one of dozens of buses that will be heading off to London early on Sunday.
It and Morpeth Town FC have also worked together to make the players, management team and officials a big part of Fair Day on June 12.
The organisation is encouraging businesses to keep the displays up until Fair Day to link with the parade and there is also a best-dressed-window contest – the winning shop will receive its accolade at this year’s Morpeth Business Awards in the autumn.
Charity shops are also getting involved, including Cancer Research UK and Oxfam in Bridge Street.
Sharon Corke, manager of the Cancer Research shop, said: “We have rosettes on display and yellow-and-black outfits on all of our (plastic) models in the shop. It’s important to get behind your local football team, especially when they have done so well.”
