Welly wearers aid sick kids

SOME unusual footwear may be sported around Northumberland tomorrow for the fund-raising Wear Your Wellies day.

The initiative has been organised by Action Medical Research to raise funds for its work to help poorly babies and children.

Research currently being supported includes work around pregnancy complications, premature birth, cerebral palsy, meningitis and epilepsy.

The fund-raising event is inspired by the charity’s mascot Paddington Bear, who can often be seen in his shiny red wellies.

People simply have to sign up and give a £2 donation to wear their wellies at work, college, school, or anywhere else they choose.
