Women go back to childhoods

AS Morpeth Stobhillgate Townswomen’s Guild hadn’t engaged a speaker for our April meeting just after Easter, our committee decided to try and have some fun by taking members back to their childhoods.

We had a decorated Easter egg competition, won by committee members Mrs Lumley and Mrs Churnside.

After an interval for tea, savouries, sandwiches and cakes there followed an Easter egg hunt.

The six eggs were all eventually located although there aren’t many places to conceal anything in St Robert’s Hall.

On a more serious note our Guild knitter Mrs Freda Pagan and her fellow knitters from St George’s UR Church are busy knitting blankets for people of the Central Republic of Congo.

Poor health care, warfare and political uncertainty beset this wonderful country so anything which can help is very welcome.

Finally our raffle prize winners were: Mrs Johnson, Mrs Wilson, Mrs Pagan and Mrs Muir.

Our thanks to Rosemary for her visit and for judging the Easter egg competition, we hope to welcome her again soon.

Our next meeting is on Thursday, May 10, at St Robert’s Church Hall at 2pm, all very welcome.
