CONSTRUCTION work will soon begin outside a Morpeth community building, but users have been reassured that they will not suffer any disruption.
A programme to relocate the car park entrance to Reiver House, home of the Northumberland County Blind Association (NCBA), is set to start on June 18 and it should take two weeks to complete.
It has been agreed with Dransfield Properties in conjunction with the construction of the Morrisons supermarket being developed opposite the centre and will add additional parking space for visitors.
The phases of work will include removal of soft landscaping, ground excavation, laying concrete kerbs and the removal and disposal of materials from site.
However, whilst this work is being carried out, entrance to the car park will remain as it currently stands and the footpath at Reiver House will not be affected.
NCBA Chief Executive Lorraine Dryden said: “We have been told by the contractors (Tolent) that there will be no disruption to users during this period.”
Once complete, the new car park entrance will be opened up and work will begin on the existing entrance.
