Youngsters benefit from Rotary cash
Amble and Warkworth Rotary provided Santa Claus and his sleigh for Widdrington, and parish councillor George Askew arranged for a group of helpers to carry out the dooor-to-door collection.
As a result the collection raised £450, and on Tuesday, January 24 Rotary President Stephen Kerry presented two cheques for £225 each to Grange View C of E First School football team and the Widdrington Rainbows, Brownies and Guides.
Pictured above right is Stephen Kerry presenting a cheque to eight-year-old football team captain Jake Ison. In the back row are Rotarians Mike Frisch and John Lilley (Santa and sleigh driver respectively), and Michael Guy, the football team coach.
Below right Mr Kerry is pictured presenting a cheque to six-year-old Eva Ford from the Rainbows. She is accompanied by girls from the Widdrington Brownies and Guides.
In the back row are Rotarians John Lilley and Mike Frisch and parish councillor George Askew, together with some of the volunteers who carried out the door-to-door collection.
On the extreme right is Guide Leader Marguerita Gray, who said that the money will be spent on providing outdoor activities, bus trips and the hire of the Community Centre.
