CLEAN-UP: Residents show care for area

Middle Greens Community Association would like to say a huge thank-you to the many residents who joined in to clean up the walkway overlooking the river at Bennett’s Walk.

This hard-working group of volunteers were able to clean moss and weeds from the path in a little over one hour.

There was an excellent turnout for the event, and everybody pitched in with enthusiasm, proving that we really care about our neighbourhood and hope that others will respect this too.

A representative from Northumberland County Council had previously come to walk around the area with residents and explained that the walkway is too narrow to enable the use of the small street cleaner.

The only solution was for residents to do the work themselves.

So despite hearing flood alerts and the possibility of impending heavy rain, the group set to work and accomplished their goal.

The walkway is trafficked daily by residents and visitors alike, who often stop to watch the wildlife and enjoy the beauty of the River Wansbeck.
