COUNTY HALL: Stand up and be counted

I would like to give my support to the views of Dr White-Hunt in his letter (Morpeth Herald, December 10) concerning the proposals of some Northumberland County Council members to move the county council offices from Morpeth to Ashington.

Like him, I am sure they do not represent the views of the majority of residents of the county.

Under the democratic structure in which we live, can I urge interested readers to write to their elected representatives requesting that they advise how they intend to respond to the proposals, and to explain, if voting for the move, why they consider it sensible and democratic?

Taken together the responses may show which members are prepared to stand up and be counted.
