Let council decide

I read with interest the comments of the MD of Barratt Homes regarding the economic contribution that his wholly inappropriate housing scheme at Stobhill roundabout would bring to the council and area.

While it comes as no surprise that a developer chooses to focus councillors’ attention on the extra money that they would have to spend, the comments and the article fail to make an obvious point. Namely, that the same number of houses on a more appropriate site would have the exact same benefits and would not have the same environmental impacts.

If Mr Roberts truly believes that this site is appropriate then will he agree to allow the council to determine the application after the local community have gone through the process of adopting a Neighbourhood Plan and Green Belt policy?
