A FAMILY fun day for charity is being held at Kirkley Hall Zoological Gardens on Sunday.

As well as seeing the zoo’s adorable latest arrivals, visitors can enjoy face painting and a treasure hunt as well as a raffle, cake stall and all kinds of pink treats throughout the day.

It is one of the events taking place this October to support Breakthrough Breast Cancer’s Go Pink campaign.

Organiser Susan MacKellar, from Choppington, was inspired to raise money and awareness of the charity because a family member had experienced the disease.

She will also be at Hobbycraft at Retail World in Team Valley, Gateshead, on Saturday, October 15.

“Everybody knows somebody who’s been affected by breast cancer,” she said.

“I’m so pleased to be working with Kirkley Hall and Hobbycraft and I’m looking forward to holding some really fun events.”
