Win places Morpeth cricketers fourth in Division 1
Morpeth 1sts are fourth in the Northumberland & Tyneside Cricket League Division 1 after they recorded a two wicket away win over Newcastle City 1sts on Saturday.
Newcastle were 195-9 with Zohaib Khan on 92, Jonny Craig taking four of the wickets. Morpeth reached their target at 196-8 with just four balls remaining, Michael Craigs on 47 not out and Paul Johnston on 45.
In Division 2, Ponteland 2nds head the table following their big 105 run victory at home against Lintz. Pont put on 206-6 with Ben O’Brien on 83, but Lintz could only manage 101 in reply with three wickets each for O’Brien and David Waters.
Blagdon 1sts are fourth in the table after their 52 run win away to Alnwick 1sts. Blagdon were 180-0 in their innings with Adam Clarke on 70, Max Harrison taking three wickets. Alnwick were bowled out for 128 in reply with Dan Simpson taking four wickets for the visitors.
In Division 3, Stobswood 1sts won by 38 runs at home to Cramlington 1sts. Stobswood elected to bat and put on 161-6 with Dan Cook top scoring on 54. Cramlington were all out for 123 in reply with three wickets each for Dan Watson and Dan Cook.
In Division 4, Ponteland 2nds are fourth after they beat Seaton Burn 2nds by 127 runs away from home. Pont batted first and made a big target of 261 with Jai Punia on 72. James Moody hit 41 not out for Seaton Burn but they were well behind the run rate and were dismissed for 134.
Kirkley 1sts lost by five wickets at home to Newcastle City 2nds. Kirkley were 202-9 in their 45 overs, with Chris Farrelly on 68. But Newcastle (206-5) chased it down in 37 overs.
In Division 5 North, Morpeth 2nds are second in the table after they beat Monkseaton 1sts by five wickets at home. Monkseaton made 173-4 in their innings, but Morpeth were 177-5 in reply.
Blagdon 2nds had a big eight wicket home win over Alnwick 2nds. In a low scoring game, Alnwick were all out for only 59, Jamie Case and Jim Ellis each taking three wickets. Blagdon (60-2) needed only 17 overs to reach their target.
Ulgham 1sts suffered a 30 run home defeat at the hands of Warenford. The visitors batted first and made 184-7 with Kevin Greshon on 46 and Kevin Wilson on 45. Ray Haygarth hit 64 for Ulgham, but they came up short at 154 all out.
