MORPETH RFC U10s successfully defended both their County Cup and Shield titles at Novocastrians RFC on Sunday.
It was actually the team’s fourth success in the Cup competition, a title which they have won every year since playing tag rugby at U7s.
All members of the squad took part in the tournament, with each player contributing at some stage.
Final games against Percy Park and Northern saw the squad home playing rugby in a style which has drawn much credit from opposition coaches and parents.
This latest success is on top of a recent trip to Leeds West Park, the home club of current England coach Stuart Lancaster, which saw the team winners in a tournament featuring some of the best clubs in Yorkshire and a very strong Lymm side from Cheshire.
A 3-0 scoreline to Morpeth in the final probably disguises the fact that it was a very hard final but ultimately superior teamwork won the day.
