Alliance teams back in action

After weeks of inactivity caused by wet weather and then the festive break, teams in the Northern Alliance League returned to action at the weekend.

For some it was their first game in over a month, and whilst the majority of players were far from match fit, most were just glad to get back out on the pitch.

From the Premier Division, Ponteland United were in League Cup action at home to Jesmond and they won 4-0 – they return to league action this coming Saturday away to Percy Main.

From Division 1, Red Row were away to Burradon in the Gardner Cup and they also won 4-0. On Saturday (January 11) they are home to Seaton Burn in the league.

In Division 2, Ellington travelled to take on Gateshead Redheugh where they went down to a 2-0 defeat. This Saturday they are away to Haltwhistle Jubilee.

Stobswood Welfarewere at home to Killingworth in the League Cup and they were on the wrong end of a 10-1 result. This weekend they take on Newbiggin at home.

In the Development Division, Morpeth FC won 2-0 at home against Wooler – on Saturday they face the Glendale side away in a quick re-match.

Morpeth Town Reserves went down 4-2 at home to Newcastle Chemfica Amateurs, a result they will be hoping to improve on when they face Newcastle East End Reserves on Saturday.

Ponteland United Reserves also went down 4-2 away to Swalwell – they are also away this weekend against Wideopen A.

Ashington Reserves won 1-0 away to Lowick – this saturday they are home to Newcastle East End first team in the Gardner Cup.
