Morpeth Sunday League round-up

Division One

Wharton Arms Bedlington defeated Morpeth Chantry 7-1 away from home thanks to a Josie Bolam hat-trick and goals from Joe Moscrop, Simon Cunningham, Phil Gowens and Chris Dobey.

The Chantry reply was scored by Phil Morrison.

Bedlington Barrington Arms recorded a 5-1 away win against Ashington RAOB, David Scott scored a hat-trick and Dylan Williamson helped himself to a brace. Ashington’s sole goal was scored by Jamie Thompson.

Division Two

Bomarsund recorded an amazing 28-0 victory against Felton with goals from Kris Grey (16) Ross Muter (three) Mick Angus (three) John Bone (two) and solitary strikes from Andy Thompson, Liam Brown, Chris Waters and Colin Milelland.

In the division’s only other game Blackthorn Rovers overcame East Chevington 3-0 thanks to goals from Richard Stobbart, Kevin Rainbow and a dubious penalty from David Hepple.


In the Dobfar Cup semi-final, Riverside Lodge defeated Alnmouth Argyle 4-1 with the goals coming from Chris Martin, Dan Thompson, Alan Hicken and Nathan Williamson, Alnmouth’s consolation was scored by Steven Hogg. Riverside face North End Trap in the final on May 5.

In the Lewin Cup semi-final, Amble Tavern beat Stobswood 3-2 with a brace from Sean Taylor and a single goal from Lee Harker, the Stobswood replies were scored by Calvin Flanigan and Stefan Tweddle.

In the Challenge Cup semi-final, Red Row defeated Shakespeare Tavern 3-0 thanks to goalscorers Kevin Bell (two) and Adam Shanks penalty. Red Row face Bedlington Barrington Arms in the final on May 19.
