Celtic Nation 3 Morpeth Town 0 Northern League, Division One

The Highway Men travelled to the league runners-up on Saturday looking to end their first season back in Division One on a high.

Despite going down to a 3-0 defeat, this was a strong performance by a Morpeth side who had more than their fair share of chances, but Lowson in the home goal made three excellent saves to deny Forster, Chilton and Hutchinson.

Murphy headed the Nation into the lead from a Lane cross and Rae nearly headed the second.

Early in the second half, Gibson scored from the edge of the area after Mundy in the Morpeth goal appeared to have been impeded to make it 2-0 and Rae made it 3-0 from a pass by Salmon.

Techflow Group man-of-the-match: Steven Mundy.

This season has been an eventful and exciting one for Town. Division One status has been retained and the club reached the last 16 of the FA Carlsberg Vase for the first time in its history.

Planning has already started for next season. The intention is to establish the club in the top ten in the league and match, if not better, the runs in the cups that they achieved this year.

The players, management and committee would like to thank everyone who came along to Craik Park to support the team this season and we are looking forward to seeing you again in August.
