Difficult start in FA Vase for Town

Following the great run Morpeth had last season in the FA Vase, this Saturday sees them return to ‘The Road To Wembley’.

In a second round tie, Town face a tough fixture away to one of the Vase favourites Tadcaster Albion, who play in the North East Counties League.

Currently, Tadcaster are sitting at the top of their league having been beaten only once this season, and in their line-up they boast former Manchester United and West Bromwich Albion midfielder Jonathan Greening.

A large crowd is expected in Yorkshire, with Tadcaster’s average home gate being over 400 and a large Morpeth fan base is expected to travel there to provide plenty of support for The Highway Men.

Last season, Town put in some excellent performances to reach the last 16 of the competition, including a 3-0 home victory over Westfields in round four.

On Saturday, the team coach leaves Morpeth from the Sun Inn together with a second coach for supporters at 9.50am. Anyone wishing to go should call John Richardson on 07738 447544.
