Late goal snatches victory from Highway Men

Durham City 1 Morpeth Town 1 Ebac Northern League, Division One

The Highway Men maintained their position in the top half of the table with a point at Durham City on Saturday.

In a half of few clear-cut chances, Morpeth took the lead through a quality finish from Sean Taylor, five minutes from the break.

After a flowing move out of defence, leading scorer Michael Chilton flicked the ball into the path of Sean Taylor, whose sublime chip beat Cook in the home goal.

Morpeth dominated possession in the second half with Taylor, Chilton and Fry going close to extending Morpeth’s lead, but they were undone five minutes from time.

Former Sunderland and Carlisle United striker Noble found some space on the right and his cross was converted by Patton from close range.
