Morpeth FC unbeaten in Development Division

It’s been another busy week for local sides in the Northern Alliance League with many sides playing three games in eight days.

In the Premier Division Ponteland suffered two defeats, losing 4-0 at home to Killingworth and 5-3 at home to Winlaton Vulcans. Last night (Wednesday) they hoped to put that to rights when they travelled to take on North Shields Athletic, and on Saturday they vare away again to Wallington.

In Division 1, Red Row Welfare had mixed fortunes with a 3-0 home win over Cramlington United on Wednesday and a 2-1 home defeat at the hands of Prudhoe Youth Club on Saturday.

Last night they were away to Gosforth Bohemiens and on Saturday they are away to Rothbury.

In Division 2, Ellington remain unbeaten after five games with two wins and three draws. Last midweek they beat Newcastle East End 2-0 at home, and on Saturday took a point from a 2-2 home draw with Jesmond.

Last night saw them away to Stobswood Welfare in a local derby, with another away trip to Seaton Sluice on Saturday.

Stobswood, meanwhile, lost 2-0 at home to Blyth FC and 5-2 away to Willington Quay. After the game against Ellington, they face Newcastle Blue Star Reserves (away) on Saturday.

In the Development Division Morpeth FC are unbeaten in their first four games (three wins and a draw). During the past week they had two good wins – 6-0 at home to Morpeth Town in a local derby, and 5-1 away to Wideopen A.

Last night they were home to North Sunderland, who are also unbeaten, whilst on Saturday they travel to West Jesmond.

Morpeth Town Reserves followed up their loss to Morpeth FC with a 4-0 away defeat at Heaton Stannington on Saturday. They were hoping to get back on track against Ashington Reserves (away) last night and Whitley Bay Sporting Club A, (at home) on Saturday.

Ponteland Reserves were involved in two high-scoring games in the past week. They won 5-1 away to Whitley Bay Sporting Club A last midweek and followed it up with a 4-4 away draw with Gosforth Bohemians Reserves on Saturday. This week they have Newcastle East End Reserves at home and Wooler at home on Saturday.
