AMBLE Pier 81 made in three wins from three in Division One with a 3-1 win at Bedlington Barrington Arms yesterday.
Andy Spratt matched Wayne Rooney with consecutive league hat-tricks as his haul earned Woodhorn Lane a 3-1 win away to Stobswood Welfare, whose Robert Baker also hit the net.
Red Row Brick Club got their league campaign off to a good start with a 5-2 success as they entertained Bomarsund Social Club.
Michael Freathy and John Laverick scored for the visitors, while a hat-trick from Adam Shanks and goals from Graham Keen and Stu Oman did the business for the Brick Club.
Stakeford Half Moon beat Choppington Traveller’s Rest 3-1, with goals from Curtis Taylor, Simon Cunningham and Joe Moscrop. Darren Reay scored for the Traveller’s.
BLACKTHORN Rovers are the team to watch in Division Two to see plenty of goals. Their three games so far this season have now produced 26 goals.
They found themselves five goals down going into the final 10 minutes of their encounter with Village Inn, Longframlington as Jackie Angus (three), Tom McPherson and Stuart Hoyle all found the net, but mounted a sterling comeback with a penalty converted by Craig Appleby, a strike from Vitali Bedakuru and goal-of-the-game from veteran player-manager Brian Brodie, who came off the bench to lead the fightback. It proved in vain, however, as Village Inn held out to win 5-3.
Also featuring in high-scoring games were Morpeth Riverside Lodge, who won their game at Alnmouth Argyle 9-2.
Darren Percy (four), Carl Moat (two), Mark Chapman (two) and Liam Watson shared the goals for the Riverside, with John Winter and Brett Rogerson registering for the home side.
Ashington RAOB maintained their perfect start to the season with a 2-1 win at Amble Dock Hotel.
Carl Taylor scored for the Dock, with Kevin Towers and Sean Gibson on target for RAOB.
North End Trap, Broomhill, also have three wins from three following a 6-1 defeat of River Coquet FC.
Jonathan Shepherd and Darren Smith grabbed two apiece, with further goals from Jordan Giles and Paul Smith. Jordan Roper claimed the consolation for River Coquet.
Morpeth Chantry and Felton shared the spoils following a 2-2 draw. Ben Fenwick and Robert Wilkinson were on the scoresheet for Chantry, cancelled out by goals from Tony Brown and Matthew Fowler. Newbiggin Bankhouse enjoyed a 3-2 win at home to East Chevington.
