Morpeth Town 4-0 Carlton Town

Morpeth, with games in hand, remain one point clear at the top of the Northern League 1 after a comfortable 4-0 home win over Carlton Town at the weekend.

Morpeth, having played six games, have 15 points, with Marske second on 14, having played two games more.#

In the first half, Morpeth enjoyed more of the possession and created the lion’s share of chances in the first half, but at half-time it was goalless and the visitors were still in the match.

It wasn’t until the 63rd minute that Town made the breakthrough when the deadlock was finally broken through Julian Petrache, who netted from Ben Sayer’s cross.

It was 2-0 after 75 minutes when Sean Taylor was quickest to react to a through ball and he slotted past the keeper.

Morpeth then scored two goals in the final three minutes of normal time to take all three points.

First of all Joe Walton converted from the penalty spot after Liam Henderson was brought down in the box on 88 minutes.

Then, on 90 minutes, Henderson got his name on the scoresheet after Joe walton played him in.

Meanwhile, Morpeth have confirmed that fullback Chris McDonald, who previously played for Whitley Bay and Berwick Rangers, has been made available for transfer.

The left-back has made 16 appearances for the Highwaymen after joining the club from Berwick midway through last season.
